  • The course is to be held in Kastamonu, a beautiful city surrounded by forests and immersed in a rich history. Kastamonu is a city renowned for its amazing historical sites, breathtaking nature all around.
  • Kastamonu is characterized by many wonderful landmarks and areas suitable for  recreational activities where you find mosques and castles dating back to previous periods that reflect the Ottoman Byzantine and Roman civilizations.  
  • Kastamonu city is located on the southern tip of the Black Sea. An network of  motorways connect Kastamonu to the cities of Istanbul and Ankara.
  • You can choose the option to come to Kastamonu by motorway or by air (İstanbul to Kastamonu). All participants should reach Kastamonu city by airplane or bus on July 24, 2022. As another option, you can reach İstanbul or Ankara Esenboğa International Airport by airplane then continue to Kastamonu by bus. We will meet you at the Kastamonu airport and Kastamonu Main Bus Station.
  • Kastamonu has a humid continental climate. Summers are generally described as warm with an average temperature of 32 ° C.
  • All planned fieldwork will take place in steppe and forest zones (not far from Kastamonu);
  • Lectures and laboratory work will be conducted at the Kastamonu University, Faculty of Forestry;
  • Fieldwork for tree-ring sampling will be performed at forest locations in the neighboring Ilgaz Mountain region (Approx. 30 min to city center).
